Storm Tempo had the sort of trip that almost always leads to a defeat with excuses -- fighting jockey Jose Lezcano early, six wide and four wide on the turns -- but he didn’t need any excuses, rolling up four wide to win by 1 3/4 lengths as the 6-5 favorite at Monmouth.
